Rowdy RathoreWatch trailerRelease date : June 01, 2012

Watching this flick made me laugh at how Sanjay Leela Bhansali agreed to produce it. Surely he would have flinched at every 'Dhin ta Chita Chita' step, the sentimental type that he is. But when you incur massive losses by producing Saanwariya and Guzaarish, you need something which will bring back the moolah for sure. So that he can make a couple more of those senti flicks.

Thus comes Rowdy Rathore, directed by Prabhu Deva, his second hindi film after Wanted.

If ever a formula film has to be exemplified, Rowdy Rathore is the best example of one. The hero is a lecherous thief obsessed with the heroine's kamariya and jewellery, who somehow turns into the do-gooder gaaon ka rakhwala types after the interval. Some inappropriate dancing, stupid nomenclature (Rowdy's sidekick named as 2G), maar-dhaad action and seeti-maar dialogues (known as punch dialogues in the South) complete the package. Akshay Kumar's mooch has a more prominent role than Akshay himself, and is seen portraying a variety of emotions and also as a key differentiator between twho hamshakals - the taut one is Rathore, and the droopy is Rowdy.

Barring 4-5 lead characters, all the actors in the film are from the South Film Industry, including a special appearance by Vijay, who is unknown outside the state of Tamil Nadu.

Rowdy Rathore is that kind of cheapad action-comedy film which you will curse in Public but enjoy in the theater. Comparing to other such formula films, it is better than Ready, Wanted, Bodyguard and Singham atleast.

Spend 50-70 bucks on this one and you will come out happy. Any more is not worth it, considering you need to watch Sonakshi Sinha gyrate like a man in one song.
