Verdict - Sanjay Dutt's Next Film After Sanju Deserved Better Than Hamming And Thundering Dialogues

Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3Watch trailerRelease date : July 27, 2018

What would you expect when a national award winning director brings back a cast known for their acting chops and a superstar who is the toast of the town coming together for a franchise that had a reputation for being one of a kind?
Whatever your expectations are, no matter how less, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 is sure to disappoint you
A threadbare plot that fails to intrigue or even interest the slightest, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 is a snoozefest at its best and a tragic film at its worst. To its credit the movie gets the concept of sequel right and starts right where the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns ended. Aditya Pratap Singh is in jail, Madhavi Devi has become a shrewd politician taking his political party forward and Ranjana finds herself at the bottom of the bottle.
On the other hand there is Sanjay Dutt with a glimpse of a back story which acutely fails to give us an insight into why he is a royal from Rajasthan running a shady club in London where people play Russian Roulette with him and die and he behaves like a mafia don.
There is also a Chitrangada Singh who is modern day courtesan of sorts whose character is so unimportant to the plot that your heart goes out to the actress who is capable of so much more.
In fact the worst part about the film is the fact that it brings together a stellar cast and gives them a shoddily written character to play with. Also, we love Sanjay Dutt a lot, but someone please tell him that he is a little too late for cooing Aye Huzur while dancing in the sand dunes of Rajasthan with Chitrangada because it ain’t pretty anymore.
Coming to the director Tigmangshu Dhulia, it is difficult to believe that this is the same director who made films like Haasil and Paan Singh Tomar. Here Dhulia is stretching a story unnecessarily that had already run its course in the second installment. There was hardly any need to make this film, to begin with. But even keeping that aside, it is hard to watch such a stellar cast almost hamming their way in the entire film.
The only good thing about the film is perhaps a superbly dependable Mahie Gill and Jimmy Shergill and it is their scenes that is the only watchable aspect of the film. In fact Mahie Gill, who has the lion’s share of the screen time is the only person that shines really bright in this film which is crashing and burning real bad. One of the worst things about the film is the fact that is massively dated. It is a film where people do not talk but delivers dialogue every five minutes and thundering ones at that which sounds like taken from an 80s Bollywood potboiler.
In conclusion, this is a film that you can surely miss and we would love it even more if the director gave missed making in the first place.
