One of the most hyped, much awaited and controversial movie of the year 2018 is Sanju. It is a short memoir of the actor Sanjay Dutt’s life, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and written by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt. The film portrays few of the most controversial phase of his life. The unanswerable questions were answered in a very ingenious way. The plot revolves around his fight with drugs, women in his life, difficulty in maintaining the stardom like his parents (Sunil Dutt and Nargis) and jail sentence.
Sanjay Dutt was more infamous rather than being famous, so somewhere or the other I was aware of his controversies but the way Rajkumar Hirani portrayed Sanjay Dutt in the movie was incredible. . I would also give credit to Ranbir Kapoor for his best performance till date. The make-up team did their job brilliantly but the way he adopted Sanjay Dutt’s style was remarkable and commendable.
Now coming to my best part of the movie and talking about the scene which was very inspiring to me is the part where he came back to the rehab and never looked back to drugs again for which he was addicted like anything. He overcame his weakness by fighting like a champion. The sync of the old songs with all the phases of his life was beautifully recreated by the director. The most dramatic cruel some scene was when Sunil Dutt was unable to convey his feelings to his dad either on the stage or before his death.
The actors who were casted for the roles played the characters significantly and were highly influential and able to convince that they were the great choice as they justified their roles. Now, coming to the best scene of the movie, which is also the connecting point between a dad and a son was where Sanjay Dutt denied to leave the country leaving his dad to face all the consequences. Overall, the memoir was full of ups and downs and it is a great pleasure to watch and I would rate it 4/5.
