Verdict - Feel good shaadi this !

Shaadi Mein Zaroor AanaWatch trailerRelease date : November 10, 2017

Let me start with the performances in SMZA.One always expects Rajkumar Rao to act well. Tad unfair but most good actors have to live with this fact that audience is so used to them acting well that sometimes it is so expected that it is even ignored Rajkumar Rao is slowly reaching that stage. Kirti Kharbanda is actually the surprise package of this movie , she has actually matched Rajkumar Rao in some scenes of this movie and that is no mean ask. The director has done well in using actors like Manoj Pahwa,Govind Namdeo , The actress who play the girl's elder sister and younger brother. The stand out feature of SMZA is therefore the performances.

The bigger point however is that while SMZA may not achieve either the cult status of a Tanu Weds Manu or the hype of the recent Shubh Mangal Sawdhan it does achieve one thing. It manages to hold audience attention for its run time of 137 minutes and somewhere while it remains a love story it does make us realise the futility of dowry system.

A girl is forced to escape from her wedding day by her ambition and a large hearted simpleton boy is so hurt by this that he turns into a vengeful man. The story has a very very interesting premise and debutant Ratnaa Sinha shows promise in her first directorial venture.

The story is not very sharply written but it has content and moments enough which make you interested enough in the proceedings. There are some holes in the plot but given what some of our more celebrated makers have delivered in 2017, we can forgive the writer those. In fact the writer deserves kudos for some earthy scenes like the first meeting between the boy and the girl. The scene where the father of the girl is confronted by the elder sister who pleads with him to let his daughter escape. SMZA has scenes which will impress you.

SMZA is not a movie which will find a way in your DVD collection but it is at least a movie you can watch on a weekend because it makes you walk out with a smile on your face.

Three stars for the sincerity of effort that this movie has !

    Great movie

Rajkummar Rao nailed it again. His movies are great as usual and this was equally good. Must watch.
