This movie has a strong star cast comprising Anupam Kher, and Pawan Malhotra which gives you hope that the movie will be good. Well, the premise is interesting. A young girl comes back home from, I assume boarding school where she has been all her life, to her dad, only to suspect that her dad killed her mom. The rest of the movie is all about has he? hasnt he? and some courtroom drama too before we reach the truth.

The problem is the movie is way too long at 2.5 hours. A lot of that time goes waste in seeing cars going up a mountain or down a mountain or navigating the dusty roads of what seems to be outskirts of Gurgaon. Slashing these parts would have saved us a cool ten minutes or so. The movie is very slow to build up and maintains the sluggishness throughout in its effort to tell you everything. The second half has some suspenseful moments that hold your attention but by that time you are squirming in your seats from sitting for so long.

Anupam does a good job as the dad. He looks world weary and tired. Pawan Malhotra as the ex-Maharaja is excellent. His scene in the end when he keeps the girls boyfriend on tenterhooks while deciding to tell his story shows him in great form. Rushad Rana as the boyfriend does a decent job too. The new actress, Tena Desae (what a strange spelling. Numerology gone mad!) looks frail and vulnerable as the daughter trying to find the truth behind her mothers death. She looks good and dresses really spiffily. For a first timer doing a difficult role, I think she was good. Though given her model type looks I dont know how she would fit into mainstream cinema. The girl playing the mother looks really delicate and I wish they had some more scenes with her.

I think this is a good attempt at a different kind of story. But as my costing teacher Professor Premchander said to me when I was going to fail his subject in spite of working hard Its not the effort but the result that counts. If only it had been crisper ,it would have been easier to hold our attention. I guess you should watch it at home where you can fast forward the car scenes and pretend you are watching a fast paced thriller.
