Duleep Trophy 2024: No Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin in squads picked by BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for the upcoming Duleep Trophy on Wednesday.

The 17th season of the Duleep Trophy, a key fixture in Indian domestic cricket, is set to commence on September 5, marking the start of the 2024-25 cricket season. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the fixtures and squads for this tournament.
This year’s Duleep Trophy will feature four teams: India A, India B, India C, and India D and the squads were selected by a panel headed by Ajit Agarkar, Chief Selector of the BCCI.
Captain Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, ace all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin and many others like Rinku Singh are not chosen. Indian pacer Umran Malik has successfully recovered from dengue and has joined the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. "I am feeling better and now I am fully focused on the preparation of the Duleep trophy at NCA. I hope I will be doing good in this season for my team," according to ANI.
Shubman Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer have been named as captains for Team A, Team B, Team C, and Team D, respectively.

Team A: Shubman Gill (c), Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Vidwath Kaverappa, Kumar Kushagra, Shaswat Rawat.
Team B: Abhimanyu Easwaran (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy*, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (wk).
Team C: Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Abishek Porel (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, B Indrajith, Hrithik Shokeen, Manav Suthar, Umran Malik, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Anshul Khamboj, Himanshu Chauhan, Mayank Markande, Aryan Juyal (wk), Sandeep Warrier.
Team D: Shreyas Iyer (c), Atharva Taide, Yash Dubey, Devdutt Padikkal, Ishan Kishan (WK), Ricky Bhui, Saransh Jain, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Aditya Thakare, Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, Akash Sengupta, KS Bharat (WK), Saurabh Kumar.
Note: Nitish Kumar Reddy’s participation in the Duleep Trophy is subject to fitness.
Following the Duleep Trophy, the domestic season will continue with the Irani Cup and Ranji Trophy. Additionally, white-ball competitions such as the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy will also be part of the season's lineup.
Two venues will host three matches each: Six four-day matches will be played between September 5 and 22.

The BCCI also noted that the cricketers selected for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, beginning on September 19, will be replaced by other players.
"The athletes who will be selected to represent India for the home Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy," BCCI said in a statement.
