Paris 2024 Paralympics: Historic BRONZE for Preethi Pal as she secures India's 1st medal in 100m
The 24-year-old from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, performed her best performance ever, coming third behind China's Xia Zhou and Qianqian.

Preethi Pal, India's standout athlete, made history at the Paris 2024 Paralympics by winning the country's first medal in the 100m. She won bronze in the women's 100m T35 final with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds, giving India its third medal at the 17th Summer Paralympic Games. With this victory, India currently has three medals from the Games.
The 24-year-old from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, performed her best performance ever, coming third behind China's Xia Zhou and Qianqian. Xia Zhou won gold with a dominant time of 13.58 seconds, while Qianqian earned silver in 13.74 seconds.
Preethi won bronze at the World Para Athletics Championships 2024 in Kobe earlier this year, qualifying for the finals at the Paris Games. She nearly missed out on two medals at the Para Asian Games in Hangzhou last year, but was a strong candidate in Paris.
On Day 2 of the Paris 2024 Paralympics, India made an impressive start to their medal total. Mona Agarwal won bronze, and star shooter Avani Lekhara won a historic gold in the women's 10m air rifle event on Friday. Manish Narwal will compete in the men's 10m air pistol finals later today, giving the country a chance to add to its medal total.
