I asked myself, "Do I have as much inner strength as this man ?"

I shudder at the thought of drinking tap water, and wince in pain when I nick myself occasionally. But then, my guess is Aron used to do that too. Till life changed.

This is one practical application of motivational theory that makes all those fancy posters selling confidence and self-belief redundant. And it wouldn't have been easy on Danny Boyle. Shifting stance from directing a film which used an entire country as a canvas to one shot with a single actor in rocky terrain. But there is one crucial link - both films celebrate the indomitable human spirit.

Oddly enough, I did not appreciate Slumdog as much as I do 127 hours. Boyle didn't make a song and dance out of it this time, and there are not many light moments too (apart from the initial interaction with the girls). James Franco gets trapped early in the film, and stays there till late. Still, he gets you to connect. As Franco moves from disbelief to shock to despair and finally to triumph, the audience travels too. Acting skills to die for. In case you missed him before, he's there in the Spidy movies and Milk.

The story is true, the Cinematography is extraordinary (watch out when the camera slowly pans out of the crevice to establish the gravity of the situation, or those close shots when liquids flow through the pipes), the Director is brilliant, and the entire experience has been amazing.

This one cannot be described in many words, so just three - Don't miss it. And probably buy a copy to watch it again, for those times when we lose perspective in life.
