“After Earth has good visuals but the sluggish pace and uninspired story make it yet another disappointing effort by M. Night Shyamalan.”

I am a fan of M.Night Shyamalan. I have loved/liked all his films until he made the last air bender. If that film was a sign of things to come then after earth will prove it that maybe Shyamalan is walking on a self destructive path.

Hit by an asteroid a space ship crash lands on earth and the only two survivors are a father son duo Cypher Raige (Will Smith) and Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith). When Will Smith tells his son Jaden that everything on this planet has evolved to kill human beings you expect a nail biting adventure but sadly after earth is one boring training video gone wrong in which Jaden Smith has to travel some 100kms to retrieve a gadget that is the only way to get them out alive. Yes, that boring journey is the film.

Fans of Will Smith will be highly disappointed and feel cheated on seeing what he is doing in the film. The story is written by him and is filled with a father's love towards his son so keeps the focus on him throughout the film. It would have made no difference if this film would have been set in present times in a jungle. The survival series on discovery channel is far more entertaining than this film.

If you are expecting scary dangerous monsters then i am sad to report the makers think a bunch of baboons attacking Jaden Smith as scary and dangerous.

Word of mouth - this film gives science fiction a bad name.wait, films a bad name.

Rating - * ½ ( Bad)

Ticket Meter - not worth it.
