The new Alvin movie is watchable only for the cute quotient of the three chipmunks. The story line is quite lame and doesn't add up to a premise that can hold a viewer's interest over a full movie.

The three chipmunks are under the impression that their 'father' Dave is about to propose to his girlfriend on a trip they have taken to Miami. They are afraid that once that happens he will abandon them and worse gain a stepbrother who will make their life a misery. They embark on a road trip with this to be stepbrother to stall this event. On the way they learn a few things about life.

There are a few cute jokes and the songs rock but that's about it. Very young kids may not follow the story through. Older ones will enjoy it like my daughter did. Strictly a one-time watch with a fervent hope that there are no more follow-ups to this one.
