Disclaimer : The box office number indicates the approximate lifetime earnings of a film in India. Although it has been collated by extensive secondary research/ resources, we don’t guarantee its accuracy and assume no liability or responsibility for any errors or omissions. However it is sufficiently indicative but not exact figures of the box office performance of a film since release.
The film has similarity to the fast and furious genre because of the many car chase sequences. The plot deals with a young man "baby" hardly out of his teens, who is the getaway driver for heists planned by Kevin Spacey. He is an expert in getaway and he is different in the sense that he listens to loud music to drown out the noise of Tinnitus with which he suffers. ( He got Tinnitus in an accident involving his late parents ). Baby takes part in a few more robberies and each time manages to get away. He meets and starts loving Deborah who works at a diners. Baby also has a hobby of recording conversations and music and has collected many cassettes. The film directed by Edgar Wright has a heady cocktail of edge of the seat car chases, loud foot tapping music and some charming choreography all photographed competently with an ever mobile camera. Every scene starts with a catchy number which then meshes with the sound of the revving car engine. All credit to the director for the unique presentation of scenes which remind one of a Tarantino film. No doubt there is glamourisation of crime by the director throughout but Baby finally lands up in jail for 25 years while the others of the group are killed. Ansel Elgort of "The fault with our stars" has a different type of role to perform and does it well. Kevin Spacey as the boss and Jamie Foxx as one of the gangsters has done well. I will say that the USP of this film is the different treatment given to the plot where a gunfight takes place with Tequila playing in the background and there is a fine tune to every car chase.
