Just like Captain America: Civil War, no bull sh*t, let's get straight to the point. The movie had no extra bells and vessels, quite surprising as it was a Marvel flick. It went from point A to point B with no detours, no site seeing, no stopping for gas. Which, in my opinion, is great story telling. Why add breathers when the story has been pieced together adequately, right?

Captain America: Civil War was the third instalment in the Captain America franchise. It was also the first film in Marvel's Phase Three but that did not mess up the film. Like it usually does, when the director, producers try to build up to something like a sequel or some other franchise (looking at you Batman v Superman). In no way was Batman v Superman messed up but because Zack Snyder had to (or was forced to) tease the upcoming Justice League film, the movie could not live up to its full potential. Well, enough about the DC Universe, getting back to Civil War.

The title "Civil War" was well justified by the presentation. The superheroes seemed to fit correctly where they were. And the best part (and mild spoilers), unlike all other films (again, looking at you Dawn of Justice), the two sides, Captain America's team and Iron Man's team, did not get together in the end and fight a common enemy. They were in "Civil War" mode till the very end. Well done Russo brothers!

We have grown familiar to the usual Marvel characters so let's put them aside this time. The movie introduced Black Panther and Spider-Man into the Marvel cinematic universe. Both Tom Holland (Spidey) and Chadwick Boseman (Panther) did justice to their roles. And the good part was, they had a lot more involvement in the story than teased in the trailer. Which is exactly how it should be. Don't show everything in the trailers!

I would say Civil War was quite different from the usual Marvel flicks because (sad spoilers for hardcore action fans) it had no massive scale explosions and no over the top action sequences. The Cap, Iron Man, Winter Soldier fight though, DAT FIGHT THOUGH! It's a good thing the filmmakers concentrated on keeping the story on point and not enticing the audience with high intensity, earth shattering, city dropping, CGI sequences.

Another thing that made the film as good as it was, was the absence of unnecessary funny puns and one liners that the filmmakers usually put in. Or maybe they were there and their subtlety made them tolerable. Either way, kudos to the script. But what about the cons you ask? Hmmm… A balanced story, appropriate characterizations, great action scenes, I guess there could have been some high intensity explosive sequences (hypocritical right? What can I say. I just love me some high quality CGI). So overall, Civil War was probably one of the finest Marvel films. And that says a lot.
