Contagion follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

“A fast paced medical horror with a huge star cast and a highly engaging plot. Don't miss this one!”

The term most apt to describe 'Contagion' would be clinical. While filled with A-list actors the movie manages to keep its focus with such utter precision on the disaster on hand rather than wallow in cheap sentimentality or thrills which usually afflict movies of this kind. The human element though utterly riveting in parts never overshadows the larger picture at hand of the constantly evolving threat of the virus at hand. This is also what hands the movie one of its biggest assets, credibility. Everything that happens has a vibe of undeniable reality, there are no over the top shenanigans, no sudden solutions, no heroics in the conventional Hollywood sensibilities; these are real people in frighteningly real situations and that's where the movie's fear gains power from.

The various characters are spread across the globe at various times and the action keeps on jumping back and forth like a thriller but everything & everything is unglamorous to the core, probably other than the fact that you have these great looking actors & actresses essaying key roles. Every character is intrinsically linked to the events and there are no sudden reveals at the end as to the duty or fate of them either. While some look to profit from the turn of events and mass hysteria, others look to find a cure, others to save their loved ones and as always a few look to avoid being the fall-guy for all this mess.

Good performances from across the cast and there is not one false note to be found. The interesting thing being that in an epidemic movie, you expect atleast a few deaths if not a high-body count, now combine that with a high-profile cast and some of the deaths can be quite an interesting guesswork.

'Contagion' is a well paced thriller that has some very competent human elements supporting an almost clinical approach to look at a global epidemic of apocalyptic proportions. Those looking for a traditional blockbuster will be disappointed but those looking for a smart, intelligent movie with good performances are in for a treat.
