“The Expendables 3 had all of Hollywood's action heroes at its disposal and yet it fell flat on its face. Only the most die hard fans will enjoy this predicable, poorly scripted, slow paced and boring so-called action thriller. ”

The Expendables 3 is the most complete visual representation of the word 'cliche'. If you were hoping for an 80's style action flick, you're better off watching something else. If you're from a time in which Rambo was that plucky young guy who took on the world, and you're aching to relive those memories, you're better off watching something else. The only reason to watch The Expendables 3 is if you're someone who wants to sully their memories of the glorious 80's and its gung-ho action flicks.

The plot is as memorable as the characters, which means not memorable at all. Sly is the leader of The Expendables. He rescues his friend Wesley Snipes from an armored train so he can take him along on another mission. To everyone's tremendous surprise, the mission fails quite badly, injuring one his (Terry) Crew(s). This makes Sly have a major re-think about the value of his friends lives and he decides to fire them. He can't complete the mission on his own, however, so he sets out to enlist some fresh faces. Each of these new recruits gives him an audition in the most cliched way imaginable, kinda like circus acts doing their bit for the crowd. It's now up to Sly and the Expendables to capture the villain and deliver him to his bosses within 36 hours.

Usually, in an action flick, the lack of a storyline or strong characters can be ignored. You can't ignore these major flaws in this movie because for all the hype, the action is quite tame. The set pieces are stale and it seems like there's no emotional toll paid by the heroes even after slaying hundreds of faceless (and bloodless) goons. Throw in a couple of well directed and slick MMA style fight scenes (You can see why Ronda Rousey was hired), corny humour and Arnold screaming "Get to tha choppa!" and you end up lamenting the movie this could have been. Don't watch this one. For Rambo's sake.
