Animating a masterpiece like Romeo & Juliet sounds good but movie-makers need to understand that when viewers go for such masterpieces they keep their hopes really high. This is the biggest section where Gnomeo and Juliet fall short. Film-makers added lot of color and variation but the 3D garden of gnomes fails to connect with the audience.

Though veterans James McAvoy, Emily Blunt Jason Statham Michael Caine , Maggie Smith and Ozzy Osbourne as voice cast did an amazing job but still movie as a whole did not click well. Undoubtedly, its whimsical at places and all the characters looked charming but with screen writers like: Andy Riley, Kevin Cecil, Mark Burton, Emily Cook, Kathy Greenberg, Steve Hamilton Shaw, Kelly Asbury; we expected much more than we got. They all have proved themselves many times and thats the reason why after watching Gnomeo & Juliet viewers will face a bit of disappointment.

Another topping which really raised the expectations bar was the OST by Elton John. You will get to hear some new tunes but honestly they are not placed well in the movie. Have to even say that 3D effect had nothing special as well. With movies like Sanctum, Avatar, Tron, Shrek; movie-makers need to add something really special in their 3 dimensions to catch eye-balls.

Footer: Decent watch but not a crowd puller. Pleasant but short on inspiration.
