Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the sequel to the 2014 remake ‘Godzilla’. It stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farminga, Millie Bobby Brown, Ken Watanabe and is directed by Michael Dougherty. Getting straight to the point, the movie was quite average and filled with a lot of unnecessary drama, almost like a Bollywood film. Maybe it felt like that because we’ve seen so many of these movies and it becomes predictable. Even though it was a film on giant monsters they tried so hard to humanize it. Which isn’t a bad thing if done tastefully, I think.

Trying to keep it as spoiler-free as possible, Godzilla: King of the Monsters takes place a few years after the prequel and focuses on a family who lost their child in the fight between Godzilla and the MUTOs. Like the previous film, the monsters or Titans as they call them are trying to establish who the alpha is but we all know who the actual Alpha is. This time Gojira is taking on a three-headed dragon monster thing named Ghidora. As far as the plot goes, it’s kinda weak.

The CGI sequences, to be honest, were great! But that’s something you can expect from a Hollywood movie in 2019. This time we get to see a lot more of Gojira and his epic mouth laser shenanigans. The fight scenes are pretty well directed and made to look cinematic AF. The soundtrack is good and the acting is just fine. If you go in with minimal expectations then you might not be disappointed.
