An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him. With New York City as his bullet-riddled playground, "John Wick" (Keanu Reeves) is a fresh and stylized take on the "assassin genre."

A Keanu Reeves movie is usually received with great fanfare. Mainly because the actor only occasionaly graces the screens. This time he dons the gun-loving, cold blooded killer avatar, seeking revenge on those who took away everything that was dear to him. A gun-fest all the way.
The story here is pretty simple. John Wick (Keanu) is an ex-contract killer whose wife dies due to an illness. She however sends him a small puppy as a final gift, with a message that the cute little thing will help him ease his pain. But all hell brakes loose, when a spoiled brat, who also happens to be the son of a big russian mobster, steals John's car and also kills the dog.
I like revenge tales, because the actors get a chance to be their remorse best and draws you into their quest for seeking justice. But John's trail is his own. After a while the execution gets redundant and the movie takes the same route as its peers by sending many killers to take him down.
Frankly, what interested me more was the world these contract killers inhabit. They have their own special multi-star hotels with 24*7 medical and cleaning services. Killed somebody or ten? No problem! Make a reservation and watch you home turn spotless. Sounds cool huh.
The movie has a neat and slick execution and Keanu is at his rutherless killing spree best. He is just as amazing when he cries and also when he kills. A man who goes to such lengths to keep his wife's memory alive. How can you not side with him.
Overall, John Wick is an interesting movie, with quirks and thrills at every corner. Keep your expectations at minimum for then you might get a pleasant surprise.
