“A simple plot, an inconsistent screenplay and the missing chemistry between Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are enough to make Larry Crowne an avoidable rom-com.”

Larry Crowne by Tom Hanks is a major disappointment in every way. Bland story telling, frail script and zero entertainment value are the three major drawbacks of the movie. Firstly keeping Larry Crowne as the title was a bad idea then Tom Hanks playing three roles of director, writer and actor was another one.

Speaking of characterization, Larry Crowne, the protagonist looked shadeless and is poorly portrayed. He looked blank and emotionless at many places. Another shortfall is that as an audience I did not understand the point of investing so much of money on such a script. Other character had not much scope to present them and make audience feel their presence.

Though the idea to make Larry Crowne was to add one more movie in the genre of Rom-coms but it failed big time as there was not anything magical and surprising in it.. The old saying that Star power works also backfired. One character which can catch eyeballs is of economics professor played by George Takei, he actually added some good humor to Larry Crowne.
