Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world's beacon of hope - Superman. less
Verdict
“Man of Steel is humourless, dark and full of mind-blowing action. Snyder's rebooted Superman makes for a definite watch on the big screen.”
Disclaimer : The box office number indicates the approximate lifetime earnings of a film in India. Although it has been collated by extensive secondary research/ resources, we don’t guarantee its accuracy and assume no liability or responsibility for any errors or omissions. However it is sufficiently indicative but not exact figures of the box office performance of a film since release.
My excitement knew no bounds when I was on my way to the screening yesterday, The promos have only gone better & better ever since the first promo, so surely, my expectations were relatively high. Nolan's Batman has vowed us over the last few years so how does Snyder's Superman rehash do?
Damn other critics, watch it in IMAX for an immersive action experience. Surely not the Superman kids used to love.
To avoid spoilers, I shall keep the story short. When Russel Crowe destroys Krypton, he sends his son to a planet light years away, Earth. Here, Clark is raised as a child with extraordinary powers. He doesnt know why but soon becomes a mad with a hidden identity. While all is going swimmingly well, General Zod, who was imprisoned for 500 years, return to reclaim the Core, which was sent along with Clark. Zod & his team wreck havoc & Superman comes to the fore to save planet Earth.
After a long time, I sat in a 140 minute film without an interval & could surely get used to this system. The action is relentless & in abundance. The background score by Hans Zimmer is as always, brilliant.
Henry Cavill plays a slick, good looking Superman & does it convincingly. Russel Crowe makes an impact in his brief role.
Growing up, Superman has always been the man with the tights who flies around and saves people, but this guy was seriously hardcore. I loved the new take on our traditional superhero & belive this allows us to explore much more in future films.
A special mention here that if you can, watch this film ONLY in an IMAX 3D screen. You will feel like you're part of that world. While it might get heavy, I'd still say thats the way to enjoy a film like this.
All in all, you know you will watch it regardless of a review, but if you're uncertain, you will surely like it provided you dont go in with high expectations. It is surely not The Dark Knight!
