Over the years I have seen many rom-coms, some that are fun, some are mushy & most which are purely candy floss entertainers. In such a time, there comes a film that breaks the clutter and truly hits the bullseye.

Bradley Cooper is emtionally unstable. A disturbing incident left him in rehab & people think hes a wack-job. His dad, Robert DeNiro is a superstious gambler who will go to any extent to win a wager. Bradley bychances to meet Jennifer Lawerence at a dinner & they wierdly connect. Her husband is dead & she is known as the infamous "slut".

What happens after this & how their relationship builds is just magic. Simmering at just the perfect pace, there is adequate punch as well deep moments. The alternate track of the father trying to win betting wagers is part funny.

The performances are simply stellar. Jeniffer Lawerence delivers, in my opinion, an Oscar winning performance.Bradley is great & a big hoot goes out to Anupam Kher.

Director David russell, who has made some good films before as well (read: The Fighter), manages to weave a soulful tale in 2 hours.

Silver Linings Playbook is like beautiful poetry, it MUST BE seen for the sheer writing & performances. If this one doesnt work for you, not much will!

For me, this is an underdog that matches upto the biggies of last year. STRONGLY RECCOMENDED!
