Offlate, there have been too much of this. Squeezing everything out of sequels and post-sequels with plotlines that are so thin, you'll mistake them for a size zero model. Ought to be exploring distant worlds, the crew here, almost accidentally, discover a planet that is beautifully equipped for us. But, the team doesn't know it is walking right into a trap, set by Krall, the bad man. Idris Elba gives us a good reason to watch the movie but why he lures them all to that distant planet, what is that utility item that he wants to extort out of the team and why he had to go to such lengths despite having enormous power already is a spiralling lack of logic that is hard to fathom. The movie in the end just seems to be an excuse to get all our favorite characters in the enterprise into couple of wisecrack scenes, doing stuff, because well, they had to do stuff. Justin Lin replacing JJ Abrams has big shoes to fill and he finds it hard. He finds solace in a lot of action, which to be honest, is not so badly choreographed. Yet, what was the point really?

If you love the USS Enterprise and all that teamwork and ability to survive by taking tough decisions, you may still watch this but grab some popcorn and don't ask for sense!
