This 3D animated movie is a fun watch. The storyline is predictable but that does not take away the surprises from its narration. There are lots of laughs and a few awww moments to make it worth your while.

The movie is about a super villain Gru, who has fallen from the rankings and his attempt to oust the younger contender to the crown-Vector, by planning to steal the moon! He ropes in three young girls to help him and then as expected grows fond of them and learns a thing or two about himself in the process.

The movie at one level is for kids but at a second level also talks about childhood expectations and disappointments, and these resonate well with adults too.

Plus only adults can get the small clever gags thrown in such as the banks name-The Bank of Evil formerly known as Lehman brothers. There are a few more that I will not spoil for you.
Some of the characters could have been fleshed out more, such as the lady who runs the orphanage or the brilliant scientist who is seriously underutilized. This would have added more depth to the the story.

The minions who speak gibberish are the coolest. I can see they were made with an eye to selling movie related merchandise and I would not mind getting one of them home. Watch out for them during the end credits.

The other things that is funny is the ingenous range of weapons that Vector and Gru use against each other. I could use a few of those to cure traffic jams here in Mumbai :)

This movie is a can watch if you want to get back into a simpler world of good and evil and good within evil. Kids will enjoy it definitely but given the small inside jokes in the movie it will be a more satisfying watch for adults. Go for it.
