The Fault in Our Stars Review

This little tragedy is based on the popular novel of the same name. The movie ever since it came out had been creating a buzz as the novel made a mark in everyone’s heart.The story is about Hazel and Gus who meet up and fall in love in a cancer support group. They quickly become close due to shared characteristics and wit. The movie takes you on an emotional ride where you are crying and laughing at the same time.It is a movie with its mushy moments and will make your heart tingle with happiness. But like every reader the audience is also waiting for the other shoe to drop eventually which makes this a much more emotional experience. The tragic ending will leave you I tears yet this also the one that you expect right when you walk into the opening scene of the movie. It explores the lives of a Cancer patient and how every moment becomes a celebration because life is so fickle!A movie that will bring a smile on your face for all the sweet moments that it encases within itself. But will also leave you teary eyed with the pain that it throws your way.Be sure to carry a box of tissue for this one. I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

Just like I said in the title but so many people will come up with Titanic, that was one epic movie, but this is the most beautiful movie you'll ever see, it not only shows love but also true friendship of two guys which is awesome, the church scene is I'm talking about, overall a must watch for romantic movie lovers

TFIOS is not your typical love story. Based on John Green's novel of the same name, it revolves around a couple who are broken in so many ways, yet it is love that binds them together. Hazel and Gus, both were terminally ill at some point of their lives and now Hazel's favourite companion is her oxygen tank. However, it is Gus who teaches her to fall in love with herself rather than pitying. They share a beautiful bond with a particular disdain for the conventional. Both Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort perfectly fit the part. They are the perfect Hazel and Gus. There are many wonderful dialogues in the film which makes it even more worthwhile. While the story does seem to lack at some points, the chemistry keeps up the pace. They joke about how the world is a ruthless place and living here is simply a battle. Gus aspires to have something bigger, yet Hazel is the one who makes the ordinary look extraordinary. The supporting cast too has it's fair share of spotlight, yet in the end it is Shailene who manages to steal the show as she exhibits exuberance and brilliancy. The film has some happy moments and in the end it will surely make you teary eyed. Not your typical cringe worthy romance, per se yet it is quite enjoyable.

This one is a tear jerker and a sob story which will appeal to all sentimental people. I have not read the book, and thank God for that since I have no unrealistic expectations like why was that scene not included or the boy was blonde but in the movie he isn't . The critics should realize that the film is based on the book and not a page to page conversion.Having said that ,this is a touching and a poignant tale of love between two cancer stricken teenagers and how they go through their hard time with great maturity. The girl Hazel Grace Lancaster ( Shailene Woodley) is 15 and carries an Oxygen tank in her backpack or drags it wherever she goes. The boy 16 something is Augustus Waters( Ansel Elgort) who has a prosthetic leg and has an unlighted cigarette dangling between his lips for bravado and waiting to disappear into oblivion as he says. They meet at a cancer support group meeting where Augustus ( Gus) keeps looking at her since he finds her beautiful. Soon love happens and both are acutely aware that even in their warm relationship they are hurtling towards a sure death soon.The film unfolds in a simple manner without any loudness or melodrama. The dialogue is simple and conveys a lot. All actors are very much natural without going overboard with their emotions. Some scenes will bring tears no doubt and hence the advice to bring tissues.The anguish of the girl's parents is also brought out very realistically.The mother ( Laura Dern) has acted superbly.The movie is however merciless to boys and men who cannot cry and have to suffer with a lingering lump in their throats for most of the movie.Director Josh Boone has done a splendid job of presenting this love story in a superior manner. This is the " Love Story" of today and he deserves all credit for making it interesting. Some nice scenes / dialogues of the film1. Gus says " There is the thing about pain, it demands to be met"2. Hazel speaks about her future and tells Gus to lay off. She says " I am a grenade and can explode any moment "3. " Some infinities are greater than other infinities4. The nurse asks Hazel what the pain is on a scale of 1 to 10. Hazel says 9 and the nurse says"You are a fighter since the pain is 10."5. The warmth of the scenes at the restaurant over champagne or at the picnic spot or when all 3 of them are throwing eggs at the neighbour's car when Gus tells the neighbour " Between the three of us we have 5 legs, 4 eyes and 2 plus set of lungs, so you better go back inside"6. " If you want the rainbow you'll have to deal with the rain"7. The eulogy rehearsal by all 3 at the church.The photography, editing music are excellent. Amsterdam has been captured beautifully.

The Fault is in our Stars is a total sob fest of a movie. It is about two teenagers dying of cancer. They meet, fall in love and spend their last few days on Earth enjoying the togetherness and comfort that Love can bring. The lead pair is innocent and vulnerable looking. Their love story is not maudlin or saccharine but peppered with wry humour at their situation. The parents are the ones who you empathize with, as you see them watching their kids die. Their sense of panic each time their daughter calls out loudly is enough to break your heart. And yet they stay strong and smiling right till the bitter end.Watch this one if you like sentimental movies. And remember to carry plenty of tissues.
