Verdict - A fine return to form for Disney

    FrozenWatch trailerRelease date : November 29, 2013

With 'Frozen' Disney hasn't raised the bar as much as revived what it used to do best in its two dimensional animation heydays; provide a movie that's for the kid in all of us. It hits all the right buttons in such a way that Disney's past effort, 'Tangled' failed to despite its best efforts.

The crux of the tale of Frozen is about the relationship between two sisters, Elsa and Anna, who are orphaned at a young age. Elsa is to become the next queen but on the day of her coronation an old power she thought she could hide and control resurfaces which causes her to flee to an icy mountain. Anna sets off after her sister and along the way meets a plethora of characters that help her along on the journey and find out the truth about Elsa and her.

The movie's rife with animation that clearly has been created with a lot of attention to detail. The backgrounds, each strand of hair, every pore on the skin of the characters bears a stamp of the finest animation work. It's gorgeous to behold and would easily be one of the finest animated work out there. Only the thing being it's primarily updating what would have been a two dimensional movie back in the 80s or 90s to a CGI visual feast.

There's plenty of humour for the kids and adults alike and the songs though not the best Disney work are quite enjoyable in their own right. Top notch voice work from the whole lot but Josh Gad really takes the cake in a character (Olaf) that could be seen as irritating by some, I however found him quite entertaining.

'Frozen' represents a fine return to form for the Disney animated tales of yore, with enough heart and humour to go along with the lush animation.
