Verdict - This shark is worth a one time visit !

The MegWatch trailerRelease date : August 10, 2018

The problem for any maker in hollywood today is that the moment you attempt a under the sea movie where a shark is the predator you get compared with the classic Jaws . Now The Meg is not that kind of a movie.

The plot is about a deep sea rescuer Jonas coming face to face with a prehistoric shark for a second time. He has the responsibility of rescuing a team of scientists from it. He does that and when the shark causes deaths of innocent humans Jonas and team decide to kill the shark. They mount a challenging scenario and end up winning.

In fact the build is up tad slow and the director does give a bit of a plot and tension build up. An unlikely hero Jonas Taylor who is fighting the tag of coward is called upon to rescue a trapped crew from an underwater attack by a prehistoric shark called Megalodon or The Meg.

Jason Statham is as usual a perfect fit for this hard as nails brooding tough guy with a squint on his face all the time. The movie has predictable points and yet the director has kept the movie interesting enough especially the way Megalodon is killed in the climax.

The movie has some interesting moments like the one where they wrong shark is killed and the crew is taken totally by surprise. The movie has some very good underwater visuals and if you are going to watch this one in 3D then the experience will be even better.

The movie has some good one liners and there are some good comedy moments too like the one involving a dog called pippins am not going to spoil your fun by writing about those moments here.

The Meg is the kind of movies which are not publicised or waited for but should you walk into the cinema hall you will at least not walk out disappointed - guess given some over rated duds we have suffered in the last two weeks that in itself is a good achievement.

My rating is three stars as a movie you can watch once without feeling bored.
