Verdict - pacing issues Mar an other wise brilliant finale

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2Watch trailerRelease date : November 27, 2015

That the Hunger Games series is a story worth telling, and being told with unflinching honesty till now is a given.  So even as the last book was split into two films , the resultant elongated screenplays did not cause as much apprehension of losing out on the brutal force that the film has been; Mockingjay Part 1 was immensely enjoyable without a doubt. The last film in the series, Mockingjay 2 however cannot boast of the same- the film fails to balance out story progression with adrenaline racing action bits as good as the others before it, leaving us a tad underwhelmed.

The film starts where the last one ended, the rebel forces are preparing for the last battle, even as Snow pulls the mask off  Alma Coin’s ideals and intentions. Katnis is left damaged and confused over who is right and who is wrong, and if her fight has any meaning at all. The alrger darker themes of the series, dealing with oppression, rebellion and the idea of freedom, are brought out as brutally as ever, giving us an almost satisfying end to the series. Yet, for those who have read the books, the film falls short- especially because of pacing issues that creep up in this last part threatening to dampen the excitement.

JLaw is her fiery self, carrying the film on her shoulders and giving us one of the strongest female lead characters in decades. Her smouldering simmering sense of confusing and delusion make Mockingjay 2 a fitting , if not entirely perfect, finish to this mindblowing franchise. This final good bye deserves to be seen on the big screen.
