    Veteran comedians 'Sutti' Velu, 'Loose' Mohan pass away


    The South film industry lost two of its veteran comedy actors – Telugu character artiste 'Sutti' Velu and Tamil actor 'Loose' Mohan -- on Sunday. While 65-year-old Velu died at a city hospital after prolonged illness, 84-year-old Mohan died at his home in Mylapore after a brief illness. Kurumuddali Lakshmi Narasimha Rao or Sutti Velu, who is survived by wife and four children, joined the theatre at the age of seven and debuted in the industry in 1980 with Jandhyala’s directorial ventureMudda Mandaram. Later he acted in over 200 films includingNalugu SthambalataandPratighatana. The actor also received the Nandi Award for best supporting actor inVandemataram. ‘Loose’ Mohan, who became a household name after Tamil blockbusterMadras Lingo, had acted in more than 1,000 films. Many Kollywood celebrities and politicians paid their last respects to the actor,who is survived by a son Karthik and three daughters Revathy, Geetha and Lakshmi.
