In the beginning portions you might feel that the nature of Baiju is the typical style of Biju Menon, but as the movie progresses, it uses the actor in him beyond the usual humor side. His performance in every occasion is quite natural. All the other actors except for Padmaraj Ratheesh look very natural. Deepak Parambol, Aju Varghese, Hannah, Indrans, Vijayaraghavan, Janardhanan, Alencier Ley, Dileesh Pothan, Chethan, Nebish Benson and a lot of others who are there in the movie looks perfect for the role and a special mention to debutant Sreekala who was paired opposite to Aju Varghese.less

Sathya is filled with cliches and generic road movie plot twists are thrown in their as well. The Technical aspects of the movie fall short as well with lazy camera work and poor editing being your travel companions throughout the film. Jayram pulls off the look of a rough and grizzled hero but the lack of any actual character development or depth in screenplay ruins the appeal. All in all Sathya is one movie you should avoid. less

Mammootty is well known for mastering slangs and here also he has done a very good job in that department. Beyond the slang this film isn’t challenging for an actor like Mammootty. He is in this aged shape in the film and there is no loss in charm. The only issue was in the over the top wire supported fight sequence in the climax which fails miserably. Child actor Swaraj Gramika looks like a promising talent. Baiju plays the character offered to him in the typical Trivandrum style of his. The movie has an elaborate cast including names like Iniya, Mamukoya, Indrans, Hareesh, Nirmal, Siraj, Joy Mathew, Niranjana, Ganapathi, Siddique, Saikumar and many others with most of them having very less to do on screen.less

1971 Beyond Borders hasn’t really explored the actor in Mohanlal in an attractive way. He has two tones in the film, one where he is the friendly guy in his hometown and the other where he is a strict officer in the border. In both versions he is playing this character that is being frequently hailed by everyone. Arunoday Singh who has mostly got forgettable roles in Bollywood looked more real and sensible in this film. Well Allu Sirish is the market widener for this film. The writing of that character isn’t that smooth and for your information Sahadevan says “Thank You Buddy” to him in one scene. Asha Sharath, Sudheer Karamana, Renji Panicker, Devan, Saiju Kurup, Manikkuttan and several others are there in the elaborate cast with minimal roles.less

K Biju who earlier made the movie Dr Love has an okay enough story here. But the script by Y V Rajesh is too elaborate. The film has invested a lot of it’s time in showing us how George and his gang are. The humour in the writing does offer some spontaneous laughter, but at the end it is all about how relevant all these things were for the story. It is kind of similar to what happened with Kavi Uddeshichathu. And if you compare Georgettan’s Pooram with that film, Kavi Uddeshichathu has wasted less time on build up. less

In a way The Great Father is a mix of Mohanlal’s Karmayodha and the Jeethu Joseph movie Memories. This is not an accusation of copying, when you look at the structure of the story, you sort of feel that way. To make it more of a heroic movie which will please the fan base, Haneef Adeni adds a parallel police investigation track. Apart from the social relevance factor, the appealing factors in this film are largely an outcome of the thrills we get through this Nainan vs Police part. David’s swag occasionally creates that much needed feel we sort of expected through all the promos.less

Apart from Asif Ali, Bhavana, Lal, Baburaj, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu and Suresh Krishna who played pivotal roles in the first edition, Sreenivasan and Lena also appear as important characters in Honey Bee 2. The screenplay written by Jean Paul Lal (Lal Jr.) and SGB Kottarakkara successfully align itself and relate with the prequel. The first half which was packed with humor entertains the youth and also has space for clean jokes. The dragging, melodramatic second half loses the grip and becomes repetitive and predictable.less

The screenplay has many good moments that show the depth of the bondage between Saira and Joshua. The uniqueness in their story adds a fresh unhackneyed beauty to the picture. The surprise in the movie is Joshua's father, Peter George. At times the screenplay strikes the perfect balance between an emotional drama and a well-written thriller but has many loose ends that could've been avoided with some fine tuning.   less

Midhun Manuel Thomas as a writer and director always favored humor as his comfort zone. Here also the aim is to capitalize on that kind of treatment. Unlike the other films of Midhun (barring Aadu), the humor isn’t situation oriented. It just appears in the dialogues. Even though the character of Shetty played by Indrans has a role in the way they have written the story, that whole real estate episode doesn’t have a solid grip on the basic story. less

One of the main characters in the movie Ayal Jeevichirippundu is a booker prize winning Malayali. The films plot actually revolves around his quest for inspiration. With an instantly likeable Manikandan Achari delivering a neat performance as the central character, this movie from screen writer turned director Vyasan K P is an underwhelming film that lacks crispness. less

Tovino Thomas delivers his best work till date and the intensity in his eyes, the muscular personality and the powerful dialogue delivery stamp the birth of a Superstar. Neeraj Madhav delivers a good performance in the supporting role. Roopesh Peethambaran once again proves that he is an elegant actor. His performance as the antagonist is very natural and convincing.less

The plot is set in Angamaly, a town in the Ernakulam-Trichur district border. The movie is a realistic approach to the local life in Angamaly with Pepe (Antony Varghese) as the protagonist. The story is usual and has nothing new to offer, but the screenplay that says the proverbial tale of men who live by the sword is gripping and has a fresh feel to it. The life of thugs and henchmen has been portrayed with perfection in a raw manner. less
