Verdict - Along with Darvin, you are bound to be transformed too.

Jijo Antony's Darvinte Parinamam, as the name suggest is about Darvin's transformation. The problem is, at one point, it becomes your parinamam too. If you are a patient person, it will transform you into an impatient person. Well, if you are an impatient person, it might transform you into a choleric person. Like the guy sitting behind me, who, despite being politely requested several times to not keep pushing my seat, couldn't keep his legs to himself. I was initially quite agitated, then decided to shift seats realising it was not his fault. It was Jijo Antony's.

Chemban Vinod is introduced as the hero (Darvin) and Prithviraj is touted to be the movie's villain (Anil Anto). I feared it might be a rip off of Badlapur. Thankfully, it wasn't. Chemban Vinod and Prithviraj, both have done their jobs perfectly, but, the premise isn't strong enough for neither of them to convincingly end their on screen feud. Jijo Antony probably realised that, and did try his best to unravel the characters' emotions as they metamorphose into something they are not. Sadly, slow motion scenes, and long drawn out action sequences are not what is needed. A completely unnecessary duet sequence, pathetically unfunny comedy scenes and several other such scenes, do not just make this movie ineffective, it raises very basic questions such as the directors' sanity.

The music and background score are not very helpful either. Abinandhan Ramanujam's cinematography work is near perfect. His work in Double Barrel, made heads turn, and here too one cannot help but notice the artist's nuances in each scene. The action scenes have been choreographed well and it was refreshing to see that they were not too filmy.

The movie works in parts, and despite Prithviraj and Vinod giving their best, it does very little to convince us and when the entire movie is about that transformation, one feels it could have been a lot better.
