'777 Charlie' star Rakshit Shetty may join the Lokesh Cinematic universe with 'Thalapathy 67'

    Thalapathy 67's star cast gets bigger and better.



    According to a new report, Rakshit Shetty may be the latest addition to director Lokesh Kanagaraj's ever-expanding cinematic universe.

    Rakshit Shetty's adventure comedy movie 777 Charlie was one of the biggest hits for Kannada movies and was a pan-Indian hit.

    The movie follows the relationship between Charlie a Labrador Retriever and his reluctant caretaker Dharma. 777 Charlie met with positive reactions from fans and critics and went on to gross over a105 cries at the box office against a budget of 20 crores.

    Rakshit Shetty is currently working on two other projects this year. They are Sapta Sagaradaache Ello and Richard Anthony.

    Lokesh Kankaraj is pulling off one of the biggest acting coups of the decade by casting superstars from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bollywood.

    This new development comes right after the announcement that Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has been cast in the movie.

    In a recent interview, actor Vishal confirmed that he would be playing the villain in Thalapathy 67, so there is a strong possibility that Sanjay Dutt will be playing one of the good guys in the movie.

    Along with Sanjay Dutt, and Vishal, Trisha Krishnan has been cast as the female lead in the movie. Thalapathy 67 will see Vijay and Trisha reunite after a gap of 15 years, their last movie together was the 2008 action movie Kuruvi.

    There are also rumors that Malayalam actor Prithviraj has also signed on for the movie along with Tamil actor Arjun Sarja.

    The movie will be the third installment in the franchise following 2019's Kaithi which starred Karthi and 2022s Vikram which starred Kamal Haasan in the lead.

    The franchise has grossed around 530 crores at the box office. Thaplathy 67 also marks the second collaboration between Lokesh and Vijay after 2021's Master.

    While plot details remain under wraps there is a rumor saying that the movie will be based on the 2005 Hollywood action movie 'A History of Violence'.

    Thapalathy 67 is currently in production and expected to release in the latter half of 2023.

    Meanwhile, Vijay is enjoying the success of his release of the new year, 'Varisu', which has become the first movie of 2023 to gross 200 crores at the box office.

    Varisu is currently running in theaters.
