Abhimanyu Dassani may be just two films old in Bollywood but the star-kid certainly knows how to stand out from the herd. The actor made a rather unconventional debut in the film industry with Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota but landed on his feet as the project became a sleeper hit in 2019.

After having been in the industry for just three years, Abhimanyu has so far not flattered with his film choices. However, Abhimanyu has confessed that despite his confidence his parents never wanted him to enter the film industry.

In a recent interview, Abhimanyu revealed that despite his mother Bhagyashree being a popular actress in Bollywood, he had to work hard to convince his parents of his decision to pursue acting.

Talking about his parents' reservations he told Hindustan Times, “They were very worried. Now that I am older, I can understand their fears of letting their child enter this industry. Now I have experienced a lot of things. I'm glad they tried to put that sense into me. They used all the tactics in the book one by one. But I was very adamant and headstrong, how young adults are at that age. I always wanted to prove myself and this was the opportunity to do that because it was something they didn't necessarily want me to do at that time. And I was rebellious. Maybe if they had supported me at that time, I wouldn't have been the person I am today."

At the time of his debut in 2019, not many people knew that he was Bhagyashree’s son including his co-star Radhika Madan. Abhimanyu found his own way in the industry and followed up the success of Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota with a Dharma Productions film Meenakshi Sundareshwar which was released on Netflix last year.

The actor’s climbing career trajectory has not only made his mother proud but on being asked about sharing screen with her son, the actress answered with an optimistic ‘definitely’ to making it happen.
