According to Karan Johar, Aamir Khan is to blame for Bollywood's shift from masala entertainers that are working today; superstar reacts

Aamir Khan and Karan Johar roasted each other in their own ways on the latest episode of the celebrity chat show, Koffee With Karan season 7. While the superstar revealed how he hated most of the filmmaker’s directorial, latter held him responsible for losing Bollywood’s tonality that South cinema offers. Aamir was accompanied by his Laal Singh Chaddha co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan on the Koffee couch.

It so happened when Karan used his Kareena's character Poo from his film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham reference and told Kareena that Aamir won’t understand. To which, Kareena replied that Aamir loved his film, but Karan disagreed saying he hated K3G. Then Aamir corrected him and said, “I loved her. She’s right, I loved her. But that was the only thing I loved about that film. I am very sorry. You know it, I’ve told you.” Karan prodded further saying, “He didn’t like any film of mine.” Aamir corrected him and said, “I like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai & that short film in Lust Stories you made.” For the unversed, K3G starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and Hrithik Roshan.

On the other hand, Karan blamed the Dangal actor for shifting the tonality that south films like KGF or Pushpa used that actually Hindi cinema used to have. With his movies like Dil Chahta Hai, Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, and Taare Zameen Par, the filmmaker claimed that he brought new sensibilities and started making a certain audience. Denying the claims, Aamir explained that his movies are heartland films that touch the people at the grassroots. He further said that every filmmaker has the freedom to make what they want but picking something that the bulk of India is not interested in creates a niche audience.” Make good films with great stories but choose topics that are relevant to most people.” he added.

Meanwhile, Koffee With Karan season 7 has so far seen celebrities like Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, and Sara Ali Khan gracing the Koffee couch. Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan among others are expected to be part of the show in the upcoming episodes.
