Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is gearing up for her comeback to the big screen with Mani Ratnam’s period drama, Ponniyin Selvan:1. During the shoot, the actress’ daughter Aaradhya Bachchan had an adorable directorial moment as the ace filmmaker gave her the opportunity to say ‘action’ in one of the scenes. The actress said that it’s her daughter’s most cherished memory from the sets of the movie.

While speaking at the promotional event of Ponniyin Selvan in Mumbai on Saturday, Aishwarya revealed that Aaradhya visited the sets with her father Abhishek Bachchan. "At the time she was enthralled. Seeing a period drama is always exciting. And she did get the opportunity to visit on set. It was mesmerising (for her) and I could see that in her eyes. But I think my admiration for working with him (Mani Ratnam)...she respects him, she is in awe of him.”

Furthermore, she added, “And, I think what excited her the most was when one day she came on the set, he gave her the opportunity to say 'action'. She could not get over that. She was like 'aah, sir gave me that opportunity. I don't think any of us had that opportunity. That's probably THE most cherished memory for her. She values it already and with growing years more so.”

Besides Aishwarya, the promotional press conference also saw the other cast and crew members including Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, and AR Rahman among others. The two-part franchise movie is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's popular historical novel Ponniyin Selvan (The Son Of Ponni) and has been shot on a budget of Rs 500 crore. Produced by Lyca Productions, the first part of the film will release on September 30 in five regional languages - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
