Akshay Kumar apologises for endorsing an elaichi brand, says 'I promise to be extremely mindful'

Akshay Kumar has apologized for hurting the sentiments of his fans after he was roped in for endorsing an elaichi brand. The superstar has now stepped out from the same and has penned a brief note surrounding the fiasco. The actor promised his fans that he will be mindful of the brands that he endorses the next time.

Talking about the post, Akshay Kumar wrote, “I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. Akshay Kumar was seen alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn in the advertisement for the elaichi brand. After the release of the same, fans were divided with their reaction to the advertisement. While some netizens were happy to see the three megastars share screen space together, others were upset with Akshay for endorsing the product as he had revealed in an earlier interview that he will never endorse tobacco products.

The interview had Akshay Kumar telling the media in a press conference that he gets many offers to endorse big Gutka companies. The Phir Hera Pheri actor then adds that he goes on to reject these offers as he does not want to endorse any wrong thing. Fans started sharing this clip of the actor from the interview and criticized him for going back on his word.
