Akshay Kumar calls Bollywood stars refusing 2-hero films ‘insecure’; here’s what happened when approached other actors for Selfiee

Akshay Kumar made an entertaining appearance in Koffee With Karan 7 ’s yesterday (July 21) episode. The actor was as usual in his full form and got candid about several facets of his professional and personal life. However, amidst this, the actor also made a rather honest revelation on the ‘insecurity’ of Bollywood actors in doing a 2-hero project unlike the actors from the South film industry.

It all started after Karan Johar showed Akshay Kumar an Ormax list which showed the latter as the only Bollywood actor in the ‘Most loved Pan-India actors’ list. When KJo asked Akshay the reason behind this, he pointed out that there are some things that the Hindi film industry needs to learn from the South industry. The superstar pointed out one of the first things to be Bollywood actors’ ‘insecurity’ to doing a 2-hero project which the actors in the South are very secure and comfortable in doing.

The actor went on to say that he and Karan Johar had a hard time roping in actors for the upcoming film Selfiee which they both are jointly producing. Akshay Kumar stated that nobody was ready to star opposite him in the film stating that they are not comfortable doing a 2-hero project. The Phir Hera Pheri actor furthermore stated that he was also ready to give the actors they were approaching a role of their choice but the majority of them declined.

The actor also asked Karan Johar the possible reason due to the same after which the latter stated that this usually happens due to the insecurity of the actors on sharing the screen space with another big actor. The director-producer furthermore stated that actors in Bollywood are also scared about their stardom in a big project being shared by another actor. However, all’s well that ends well as Akshay and Karan found Emraan Hashmi to star alongside the former in Selfiee.
