Akshay Kumar reveals what he stole from Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of Bemisal before becoming an actor
Akshay Kumar recalls his fan moment meeting Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of the film Bemisal, reveals he stole something.
The trailer of the upcoming movie Selfiee was launched in Mumbai today with the cast and crew in attendance. Headlining the movie which focuses on a superstar and his superfan, Akshay was asked at the event about his memorable ‘selfie moment’ with the star and the actor shared an anecdote about the time when he got a picture clicked with Amitabh Bachchan before he entered the film industry.
Akshay who plays a superstar in the Selfiee revealed during an interaction with the media at the Selfiee trailer launch that while selfies are a fairly recent phenomenon, he comes from a time when photographs were big. Recalling his meeting with Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Bemisal in Kashmir, Akshay said that he also stole from the superstar after getting a picture clicked with him.
The actor said, “I remember in the days of photography, I remember getting clicked with Amitabh Bachchan when he was shooting for Bemisal in Kashmir. I had gone there to get a picture with him and he was eating grapes on set which I also stole.”
Amitabh Bachchan’s Bemisal had released in 1982 which a nearly five years before Akshay’s debut in the film industry. The actor did collaborate with the mega star several years later in movies including Ek Rishtaa, Waqt, Aakhen, Khakee among others.
Akshay also said that while has taken selfies with fans, he has never asked anyone for a selfie.
The film Selfiee which releases in February, Akshay plays a superstar while Emraan Hashmi plays a cop who is also superfan. How the later turns from a fan to an anti-fan and tries to teach his favourite actor a lesson is what the movie is all about.
Directed by Raj Mehta, Selfiee will be released on the big screen on 24 February, 2023.
