Even before the people of our nation could come to terms with the fact that the Nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar was no more, they were hit with another heartbreaking news-- legendary singer and composer Bappi Lahiri had breathed his last. He had just returned home after 29 days of hospitalization when his health deteriorated and he was rushed back to the hospital. One day later he passed away due to obstructive sleep apnea, leaving his family and millions of fans devastated.

The Disco King’s son Bappa returned home from LA on receiving the news, after which Bappi Da’s last rites were performed. Well, in a recent chat with ETimes, Bappa opened up about the late legend, his love for gold and his unique sense of style. Talking about why the singer and composer wore gold and flashy clothes along with sunglasses, Bappa shared, “Dad loved Elvis Presley ever since he was a child. He had seen Elvis wearing a gold chain and he too started wearing one. But he wanted to create his own identity. I guess that's how the flashy clothes and sunglasses came into the picture.”

Bappi Lahiri made his last appearance on Bigg Boss 15 ; Salman Khan called him ‘pappi da’, sang ‘kabhi alvida naa kehna’

He went on to reveal, “But let me tell you that I used to get ragged in school because of Dad's sunglasses. I was questioned by other students why he wore them. It wasn't easy. But to think of it, today such things have become a trend. I remember telling him about how I was teased, but he wouldn't alter. Unko jo pasand tha, woh karte the. It was his style. Mind you, those sunglasses had a number (power).”

Bappa shared that he had told his mother about it, but when it came to styling, his father was on his own. Well, it was one part of Bappi Da’s persona which made him the Bling King, who will continue to live on in our hearts!
