Brahmāstra star Mouni Roy on shooting with Shah Rukh Khan: ‘I fumbled, I was so nervous’

It has been an incredible year for television’s naagin and actress Mouni Roy . Not only did she tie the nuptial knot with longtime beau and businessman Suraj Nambiar in a fairytale Goa wedding, but also shined on the silver screen in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva. The beauty portrayed the role of antagonist Junoon in the Ayan Mukerji directorial, which emerged to be the highest grosser of 2022. Despite sharing the screen with talented and popular stars like Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, Mouni managed to steal the show. That’s not all! She also got a chance to work with Bollywood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan , who had an important cameo in the movie.

Mouni and SRK’s scientist character, named Mohan Bhargav, locked horns in a pivotal scene of Brahmāstra. Talking about her experience in a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Mouni shared, “I was so nervous on day one. In television, we’re used to memorizing a lot of lines, so I was ready. I prepped properly for the role knowing I was working with Shah Rukh Khan, literally and I was like yes, ‘I’m fully ready!’” But sadly even despite her prep, Mouni had an ‘oops moment’ while filming.

The actress revealed, “I went on set and the first line I had to utter during the rehearsal, I fumbled. I was so nervous. But then I guess you know, as an actor, like your time between that action and cut, that is when you are on your high end.” Mouni went on to add that she understands opportunities like these do not knock on the door every single day, so she gave it her best. The beauty stated, “So, I had to give it my all and I had to give him my 100%.”

When Ayan had introduced Mouni as Junoon on social media, months before Brahmāstra released, he had shared that during their first meeting he had offered her only a special appearance in the film. But she eventually shot with the team from the first day to their last schedule. He further described her as the ‘surprise package’ in his fantasy action-adventure film. Well, fans will surely agree.
