Chris Pratt confirms that the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special will feature two characters from Thor: Love and Thunder

According to Chris Pratt director of Thor: Love and Thunder Taika Waititi wanted to leave a present for James Gunn and decided to leave the Guardians with the god of thunder's two goats.

Before they make their return to the big screen with Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, Star-Lord and his crew will make an appearance on the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special.

This will be the second-holiday special featuring the cast of the movie and will stream on Disney + in December.

Pratt said in an interview that Waititi wanted Gunn to pick up after he left the story off.

This is not surprising as the Guardians are set to have an extended cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder and were featured in the two trailers for the movie.

The two also made their first appearance in the trailer pulling Thor's chariot across space.

Named Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder. the two goats are immortal and travel at great speeds, it will be interesting to see how James Gunn incorporates them into his own story.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Chris Pratt had this to say about how the goats came to stay with the Guardians

"[Waititi] just wanted to stick James with some goats. James has to pick up where Taika left off, and he stuck us with some space goats,"

"Typically [ MCU directors don’t stick each other with stuff in the background], but I guess Taika kind of plays by his own set of rules. You’ll see there are a few things that he did that I think we're kind of an inside joke to play on James," Pratt continues. "It’s a bit of that sort of improv world where you see what you can roll with."

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit the big screen next month and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume three is set for a 2023 release.

Director James Gunn had said that the holiday special is set between the two movies.

Thor: Love and Thunder will have the God of Thunder and his friends face off against a new and powerful foe called Gorr the Gid Butcher.

Thor: Love and Thunder will release in theaters on July 8th.
