Despite Liger's failure, Karan Johar launches Ananya Panday as billionaire fashionista on OTT with Call Me Bae

Chunky Panday’s daughter Ananya Panday was launched by filmmaker Karan Johar with his production venture Student Of The Year 2. Since then she has worked in a few films namely Khaali Peeli, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Gehraiyaan, and most recently Liger . However, she has created a place for herself in the industry courtesy of Karan’s Dharma Productions as most of her films was produced by him. Now, once again Karan is launching her in the OTT space with his upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Call Me Bae .

As per Peepingmoon reports, Ananya will be playing a billionaire fashionista disowned by her ultra-rich family after her involvement in a salacious scandal. As she navigated her way through the repercussions she sets on a journey of self-discovery. Besides her, the upcoming series is set to have a stellar supporting cast. Written by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair, the series is directed by Collin D’Cunha and produced by Karan’s digital wing Dharmatic Entertainment.

Well, Ananya’s acting was not appreciated by the audience as well as by the critics in the recently released Liger which has Vijay Deverakonda in the male lead. Made on a big budget, the film miserably failed to impress the audience. However, it is always dependent on the makers to choose the cast of the film or series. And Ananya seems to be the current choice of every filmmaker. As the actress grabbed another project Dream Girl 2 opposite Ayushmann Khuranna after Liger’s box office debacle. As per reports, the actress will dive into Call Me Bae shoot as soon as she wraps Raaj Shandilya’s directorial. The upcoming series is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime in the second half of 2023.

On the personal front, Ananya had a relationship with her Khaali Peeli co-star Ishaan Khatter. She was also rumoured to be in a relationship with Pati Patni Aur Woh co-star Kartik Aaryan. Well, in the recent episode of Karan’s chat show, Koffee With Karan season 7, her mother Bhavana Pandey hinted at her relationship with Vijay Deverakonda as well.
