Did you know Madhuri Dixit's late mother Snehalata recorded a song for Anubhav Sinha's Gulaab Gang?

Actress Madhuri Dixit ’s mother Snehlata left for a heavenly abode at the age of 91 on Sunday. The actress in a joint statement with her husband Sriram Nene shared the tragic news. "Our beloved Aai, Snehalata Dikshit, passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones,” read the statement. The cause of her death is not yet known, however, the last rites is scheduled to be held today at around 3 pm.

Not many know that Madhuri’s late mother was a good singer. She has also given her voice to a song, Rangi Saari Gulaabi in Anubhav Sinha’s movie, Gulaab Gang (2014). In an interview with IANS, Anubhav said, “When we approached Madhuri to sing a song in the film, she happily agreed to do so. When she came for the recording, she came with her mom and we discovered her mom is a very good singer. So we asked her mom if she could sing a song. Eventually, we got both Madhuri and her mom to sing a song in the film.”

Last month, Snehalata’s son-in-law Shriram had written a sweet post for her. “My 90-year-old mother-in-law paints. She has macular degeneration and can’t see too well. But what comes out of her mind is remarkable. She is the loveliest, most positive person in the world. We had her paintings placed on mugs to remind us of her talent." Back in June 2022, Madhuri celebrated her mother’s 90th birthday with a series of family photos. “Happy Birthday, Aai! They say a mother is a daughter's best friend. They couldn't be any more right. From everything that you've done for me, the lessons that you've taught have been the biggest gift for me from you. I wish you only good health and happiness!” she had captioned the post. Meanwhile, workwise, Madhuri was last seen in Maja Maa alongside Gajraj Rao.
