Ekta Kapoor says she's no paragon of virtue as a mother, would rather read data on Lock Upp than parenting articles

The reigning queen of Indian television Ekta Kapoor has confessed that she’s more interested in reading the data of her shows than reading books or articles on parenting. Always a workaholic, Ekta who is a single parent to her son Ravie spoke about taking her son to work and said that she lives for her career in a recent interview.

Ekta who is often seen sharing photos with her son on social media, while speaking to The Quint said that she’s no ‘paragon of virtue’ as people expect mothers to be and is ‘not naturally a parent’. She hailed her brother Tusshar Kapoor for being a natural parent and admitted that he does send her links to articles on parenting.

“I am not naturally a parent. I am in love with my son, but the pressure that we put on mothers that they suddenly become these paragons of virtue, I am like, I am not. My brother is. He is naturally a parent. He is so good. He sends me links on parenting. But I am more interested in reading the data on Lock Upp ,” she told the publication.

Talking about spending time with her son, Ekta said she takes him with her to office to keep him around even as she works. “I am very ambitious. I live for my career. I have not moved into my son’s life. Rather I have moved him into mine. This is my way of parenting. I have accepted my demons. I don’t want to present as if I changed the moment my son was born.”

Ekta has her family’s back on the matter and said that she’s never been made to feel guilty for being ambitious at home. Her son Ravie was born via surrocacy in 2019.
