Exclusive- Aanand L Rai on working with Salman Khan: “The day I have a story, I will run up to him”

Aanand L Rai is a phenomenal story-teller who knows exactly what needs to be done to hold the audiences’ attention. The trailer of his upcoming film Atrangi Re is proof that he is all set to return to the screens with yet another gripping story. Featuring Sara Ali Khan , Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in the lead, the musical romantic drama follows the story of three quirky characters. When you see the poster, the title seems incredibly apt. But did you know this title was already registered by Salman Khan ? When the makers went to register the title, it was revealed that the superstar has rights to it.

Well, Bollywood’s Bhaijaan gave the title over to Aanand L Rai with the condition that the latter directs it. Clearly Salman has a lot of confidence on the filmmaker’s directorial work. So will the two ever work together? When we asked Rai about the same in an exclusive interview with Desimartini, he replied, “Given the chance, I would love to! The day I have a story I will run up to him. One of the finest human beings, biggest star we know but great human being. A very sensitive man. So, the day I get a chance, will love to work with him.”

For the uninitiated, Bhaijaan had a cameo in the filmmaker’s last directorial Zero. Well, as we wait for Aanand L Rai and Salman Khan to one day announce their film, we have an exciting love triangle to look forward to in Atrangi Re. According to the trailer, Rinku loves another man but is forcefully married off to Vishu. They have surprisingly great chemistry and eventually fall for one another. However, the story takes a turn when her lover Sajjad enters their life.

The film is all set to premiere on Disney + Hotstar on 24th December. Who do you plan to watch it with?
