Actress Pia Bajpiee who is known for her performances in some notable films in the South industry, recently opened up about the ongoing Bollywood vs South film industry debate in a candid chat with Desimartini. Pia revealed that the Bollywood fraternity is getting their ‘karma’ and made some shocking revelations about being undervalued due to her work in the South industry. For the unversed, the actress will soon be seen in acclaimed director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury ’s upcoming movie Lost.

Talking about the same, Pia Bajpiee said, “This is all karma. When I was working in the South film industry, I had mentioned in my previous interviews that there are a lot of double standards which exist here. I remember in one of my audio launch events for an earlier movie, I had asked for an outfit from a designer and I was told by them, ‘What will we do by supplying outfits in the South? That is not my market’. Then there was a big fashion brand that also refused to give outfits to my designer saying, ‘We are not targeting the South market.’ When you give your auditions here, you proudly flaunt your work in South films which they don’t even value. If they would have valued that, the people who are trying to enter Bollywood after doing work in the South industry, they wouldn’t have had to struggle so much. They just have that ‘Oh South heroine Hai Kya?’ attitude here so this is all karma I feel. They say whatever you do, you tend to get it back in some form or the other. This was bound to happen and will happen more if they do not change themselves. So, whatever is happening, it’s all good only.”

The actress furthermore spoke about working with director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury who is known for his critically-appreciated movie like Pink (2016) and successfully Bengali films like Antaheen, Aparajita Tumi, and Buno Haansh. Pia Bajpiee said, “It was a dream come true, When I had seen Pink, I thought that I wish to work with a director like this. It is a very rare combination with the kind of director and person that he is. It was an amazing experience.”

Talking about Lost, the movie also stars Yami Gautam, Pankaj Kapur , Rahul Khanna , Neil Bhoopalam, and Tushar Pandey in the lead roles. The movie was announced last year in July. It has been penned by Shyamlal Sengupta and Ritesh Shah.
