Exclusive: 'Salman Khan had wished for me to do a commercial film' : Abhimanyu Dassani on doing Nikamma

Abhimanyu Dassani is gearing up for his upcoming action-comedy film Nikamma which is scheduled to be released on June 17. The movie also stars Shilpa Shetty and Shirley Setia in the lead roles. Now in an exclusive interaction with Desimartini, Abhimanyu revealed what led him to give a nod to the movie and it has an endearing connection with superstar Salman Khan .

Talking about the same, Abhimanyu Dassani said, “There was not one factor but there were many things coming together and one was of course the story as well as the script that was told to me. I thought that's a very nice story and it had the Indian traditional values at the core of the plot which is very important for me and my upbringing. A couple of years back, Salman (Khan) Bhai had excitedly told me that he wishes to see me in a commercial action film. Somewhere at the back of my mind, that was also there.”

Apart from this, the Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actor said that he is yet to sink in the positive response that Nikamma’s trailer and songs have been receiving. Abhimanyu Dassani furthermore added, “It's not sinking in and I'm continuously in the promotions. I'm pretty much disconnected from the other world and the only feel that I get is when I have a conversation with you guys.”

For the unversed, Abhimanyu’s mother and veteran actress Bhagyashree had made her debut alongside Salman Khan in the 1989 movie Maine Pyaar Kiya. Salman also shared the teaser of Nikamma on his social media handle and congratulated Abhimanyu for the same. Meanwhile, talking about the trailer of the film, Abhimanyu can be seen playing the typical action hero in the movie wherein Shirley Setia plays his love interest. Shilpa Shetty’s character plays his sister-in-law who brings his life on track by giving him daily chores.
