Exclusive- Sara on signing Atrangi Re after Love Aaj Kal: ‘I realized either Sara can pull Rinku down, or Rinku can uplift Sara’

The very talented Sara Ali Khan made her debut in the Hindi film industry in 2018 with Kedarnath . She won our hearts, bagged various awards and went on to shine on the silver screen once again in cop drama Simmba. Two years later, her films Love Aaj Kal and Coolie No. 1 released, but failed to do as well as her initial projects. But as they say, failure can’t stop you from growing. Sara is now all set to blow us away with Aanand L Rai ’s upcoming film Atrangi Re . Once again, she proved that she is a star with her phenomenal performance in the trailer. Well, in a recent chat with Desimartini, the star kid opened up about the beautiful journey she had while shooting for this musical romantic drama.

The actress told us, “What Delhi was for me a year ago, for those 40 days where I shot this film. I mean, it gave me a reason to live cause 2020 was a very hard year for me. And the only thing worth happening, worth talking about, was Atrangi Re and it came to me at the time I needed it most.” Talking about dealing with the failure of Love Aaj Kal and signing Atrangi Re, Sara shared, “I’m a very ambitious girl and if media or if audiences troll me for what I wear, troll me for how I look, troll me for how I speak, I really don’t care. But if you don’t like my work, I do care because I make films for audiences and I make films for y’all. And if y’all don’t like it then it’s a problem, and it was a problem. And… I was low.”

The actress went on to add, “But that’s when I realised that either Sara can pull Rinku down, or Rinku can uplift Sara. And I didn’t want Rinku to loose, because Love Aaj Kal Sara ki galti thi, Rinku ki toh nahi thi naa. Toh Rinku kyun pachtaayegi? Woh toh main nahi hone dungi.” She further stated that she has never lived a character like this before.

Other than Sara aka Rinku, Atrangi Re stars Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar and South superstar Dhanush in the lead. It is all set to premiere on Disney + Hotstar this Christmas. Are you excited for this quirky love triangle?
