Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra's mother passes away, says 'I am now officially an orphan'

    Director Sudhir Mishra’s mother, Durga Devendernath Mishra passed away in the early hours of Tuesday today (June 14). The filmmaker took to his social media handle to share an emotional post. He stated that he is officially an orphan now.

    Talking about the same, Sudhir Mishra’s tweet read, “My Mother passed away into the great beyond an hour ago. My Sister and I both held her hand as she went. I am now officially an orphan.” Take a look at the same.

    Many members of the film fraternity paid their condolences to the director. Ayushmann Khurrana wrote, “Pls take care dear, sir. Deepest condolences.” Manoj Bajpayee stated, “May you have all the strength to go through this difficult time Sudhir!! May She rest in peace.” Divyanka Tripathi went on to say, “Very sorry for your loss! May you and your family have the strength to deal with this.” While Amrita Rao stated, “We are All children of God who will eventually return to where we belong ..May Your Mother find Happiness in the Higher World.”

    The Serious Men director’s mother had been hospitalized for quite some time now. Sudhir Mishra had earlier tweeted, “Left the Hospital to have a bath. Have just been summoned back. They say my Mother has very little time.” Earlier when director Pritish Nandy offered to help Sudhir in any way possible in one of his tweets, the filmmaker shared an emotional reply wherein he said, “Come and hold my hand. It’s a kind of strange feeling watching one’s Mother so helpless and then there is the small fact that my desperate desire to save her counts for nothing. Hope she pulls through.”

    Meanwhile, on the work front, it was today announced that Sudhir Mishra will be helming the Indian adaptation of the Israeli show Fauda. The series will be titled Tanaav. It will be starring an ensemble cast comprising Manav Vij, Sumit Kaul, Rajat Kapoor , Shashank Arora, Arbaaz Khan, Zarina Wahab, Ekta Kaul, Waluscha De Sousa, Danish Hussain, Satyadeep Mishra, Sukhmani Sadana, Sahiba Bali, Amit Gaur, Arslan Goni, Rockey Raina, M.K. Raina, Sheen Dass and Arryaman Seth.
