It was earlier reported that director Nitesh Tiwari has roped in Ranbir Kapoor to play Lord Ram, his wife, and actress Alia Bhatt to essay the role of Devi Sita in his magnum opus Ramayan. The report left the netizens divided wherein some fans got happy with the news while some people heavily criticized the decision. In a recent video, Alia was spotted at the airport yesterday (June 14) night wherein the paparazzi called her ‘Sita.’ This led to many netizens severely trolling the actress.

Talking about the same, Alia Bhatt was seen in a full-sleeved heart-printed colorful tee which she paired up with dark blue pants. The actress kept her hair open along with minimal makeup. The video has her getting down from her car when the shutterbugs start calling her ‘Sita Mam.’ Alia is left visibly flustered and goes on to cover her face as she cannot stop blushing. However, this left many netizens infuriated who started trolling Alia Bhatt. One of the netizens said, “Inhe sharam bhi nahi aati hai ye role kitna respected h Sita ka hindu dharm ki bunuyad oske bad bhi ye role esko dere hai jo shadi se pehle se pregnant thi.” A user added, “sita mam ? Ek ladki ko maa sita ji ka darja derree hoo? shame on guys.” A netizen furthermore added, “Aise logo ko sita mata bol rhe ho jinhe sita mama ka matlab tak pata ni hoga. Script sunkar role kar lene se kya hota hai.” A user went on to say, “Ab beef khane wala Ram banega aur murgi khane wali Sita . Paiso k liye yeh log aur kitna niche girenge.”

Meanwhile, while Alia Bhatt has been roped in for playing Devi Sita and Ranbir Kapoor has been selected to essay Lord Ram, the makers had reportedly approached KGF star Yash to play Ravan. However, rumors are rife that the actor turned down the role. The ambitious project will be produced by Namit Malhotra.
