'Is it some new promotional technique?': Netizens wonder why trailer of Rajkummar Rao starrer Bheed pulled down by T-series

Anubhav Sinha ’s directorial Bheed starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar shed light on the struggles the poor migrant labourers faced during the Covid-induced lockdown in the country. Recently, the makers shared the thought-provoking trailer on YouTube which received millions of views in just a few hours of upload. Shockingly, the trailer has now been pulled down by the T-series channel. Also, T-series head honcho Bhushan Kumar’s name has also been removed from the movie posters. The recent development has left netizens wondering why suddenly such a step has been taken when the movie is just a week ahead of release.

One of the users wrote, “No surprises but didn't the producer/director see this coming? If they did, what made them buckle under pressure? Also, if the censor board has okayed it for theatrical release, what happened now? Or is it some new promotional technique.” Another commented, “So much for curbing dissent? Jo hua tha ab voh bhi nahi dikha sakte. I genuinely hope people make an effort to go to the theatres to watch the film.” “Another anti-democracy act.... Sad n furious at the same time...,“ added another. Check the reactions here:

So far, the makers have not issued any official statement or reaction on the development. The trailer dropped on March 10, showed the darkest times the nation faced during the lockdown with small glimpses of migrants being beaten up by police, and discriminated against on the basis of caste and creed. Earlier, the trailer had both Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Media Works and Bhushan Kumar’s T-series in the credits. But the new posters and trailers have no mention of the T-series. Meanwhile, Bheed also has Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapur, and Ashutosh Rana as part of the cast. The film is slated to hit theatres on March 24 in theatres.
