It's not simplicity! Vijay Deverakonda wore Rs 199 chappal to keep his look closest to his Liger character at trailer launch

Vijay Deverakonda recently launched the trailer of his upcoming movie Liger. However, it was his look at the event that became a topic of conversation. He wore a basic T-shirt, khaki pants, and a pair of flip-flops. While netizens hailed him for his simplicity, his stylist Harmann Kaur explained the actual reason for his sartorial pick at the trailer launch event.

Kaur said that Deverakonda asked him to keep his look closest to his character in the movie. "I was all prepped to make it really top-notch chill until Vijay called me one day and said let’s be closest to the character and keep a very underdog look. He specifically asked me for the basic chappals and initially, I was a little hesitant but I also always trust Vijay’s dressing up ideas because I know he ends up making it the talk of the country," he told Pinkvilla.

Further, Kaur also heaped praises on Deverakonda for walking in chappals worth Rs 199 at the big-scale event, especially in Mumbai. In Puri Jagannadh’s directorial, Deverakonda plays an underdog MMA fighter with a speech impediment. The trailer launch was also attended by his co-star Ananya Panday , producers Karan Johar , and Charmme Kaur. And Ranveer Singh arrived as a chief guest of honour at the event. Pointing at Deverakonda’s look, Singh had said “it looks like he has come to my trailer launch instead of his”. Singh was all clad in a glitzy black leather outfit.

Besides Deverakonda and Panday, Liger also stars Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy , and Makarand Deshpande in pivotal roles. Legendary boxer Mike Tyson is set to make a special appearance in the movie. Produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects, the film is shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages. It is all set to hit theatres on August 25, 2022.
